About the event

Discover The Process

In this calm three-hour beginner workshop, you’ll learn the fundamentals of wax carving while creating your own ring - completely unique to you.

You’re welcome to arrive with a design in mind, or choose from a selection of Bonnie’s simple ring designs to use as a starting point. Wax is easy to shape and offers a refreshing alternative to traditional metalworking techniques, making it ideal for beginners and suitable for all abilities.

Design & Create

We’ll begin by exploring simple design ideas and discussing the best approach for your piece.

You’ll then be introduced to the different waxes, tools and carving techniques used to shape your ring.

This beginner workshop has been carefully designed to keep the process approachable and enjoyable, allowing you to focus on learning the basics while creating a beautiful first piece you can feel proud of.

As your confidence grows, you’re welcome to adapt and personalise your design, adding your own creative touches as you go.

Casting & Finishing

After the workshop, your carved ring will be sent to a trusted casting company where it will be transformed into solid metal using the ancient lost-wax casting technique.

You can choose to have your ring cast in bronze, silver, or finished with gold plating. (Other metals available on request.)

Once your ring returns from casting, Bonnie will carefully clean and polish it in her Plymouth studio, ready for you to wear. You can choose to have your piece posted to you, or collect it in person.

The estimated turnaround time is 3–4 weeks - and it’s worth the wait.

Casting Fee Guidance

Casting fees are not included in the workshop ticket and will depend on the weight of your piece and your chosen metal (metal prices fluctuate regularly).

At the end of the workshop, you’ll receive an estimated casting cost and be asked to pay a deposit. The remaining balance is paid via secure pay-link once your finished ring is ready.

Example casting prices:

  • Bronze: £15–£55+

  • Silver: £25–£85+

  • Gold plating: +£25 (available on both silver and bronze)
